Ordinary wizards: The psychology of evil in the Harry Potter universe

Tue Aug 05, 2008 at 02:41:35 PM PDT

That the Harry Potter stories are primarily about good and evil is undeniable, and no fictional character since Darth Vader has embodied the latter quality as thoroughly as Lord Voldemort. The rapidly growing psychological literature on psychopathy can provide some insight into Voldemort’s evil nature. But what of his followers?  Are the legions of Death Eaters similarly psychologically disturbed? This paper uses scholarship from Holocaust Studies and Psychology to argue that the Death Eaters and their supporters are neither mentally ill nor morally corrupt but are ordinary and possibly even decent wizards caught up in unusual circumstances out of their control.

Obama Is "Offered" to Distract From Reality of Only One Party with 2 Right Wings

Mon Aug 04, 2008 at 01:49:34 AM PDT

What if you weren't distracted by Obama? Would you then consider that, in the last elections for the executive position in both the most populous state, and nationally, the two major party "choices" (Three out of four of the candidates...) were either sons or grandsons of Nazis or Nazi supporters/enablers, or, were members of the secret society, Skull and Bones, or, in the case of George W. Bush, were both Nazi grandson and S&B member. John Kerry, to our current knowledge, was "only" an S&B member.

I presented the following info about Gray Davis's family background in part III, of this now five part series "About Relationships between Samuel Pryor & Jupiter Island, FL Residents"...If you're willing to take a hard look at Obama's choices of policy advisors, you can understand better that to vote for him is to vote for the elite's agenda, not for yours and your family's ...there is more:

PTB Approved Obama Is Intended to Minimize "Change" & Distract YOU,

Sat Aug 02, 2008 at 08:57:35 PM PDT

Fourth in a series of Diaries About Relationships between Samuel Pryor & Jupiter Island, FL Residents: Part III

...because, if you thought clearly and thoroughly about the state of "things", in the U.S.....compared to say...France, and you listened to Obama and assessed what the "change" to congressional leadership in the 2006 election has actually brought, you would probably be wanting to riot, instead of rallying for Obama.

The PTB are scared....they know there is a small chance you could actually compare what the French, a populace who endured Nazi rule, not all that long ago, have voted for themselves, that you don't have, and about "coincidences"??? and a wealth inequity "problem" that Obama is not even talking about, either.

Part III in a Series About Relationships between Samuel Pryor & Jupiter Island, FL Residents

Sun Jul 20, 2008 at 05:16:35 PM PDT

So, what does the following, demonstrate about the practice of journalism, in the US in the near and the present era, compared to say....in the '30's and '40's? What does it say about the complicity of the two major political parties in keeping their "mutual skeletons", buried. The fact is, it was not in the interest of either political party to publicize former California governor, Joseph Graham "Gray" Davis Jr.'s family background, the fact that he is the grandson of a Nazi agent accused and documented to have taken money and instructions from the German Nazi regime in 1940, to help republican Wilkie beat incumbant US president, Frankin D. Roosevelt?

I have presented STRONG support for the accuracy of an intriguing set of circumstances....Nazi ties of a close associate and business partner of George H Walker and of Prescott Bush.....Samuel F Pryor, as well as his son, Sam Jr. Sam Jr. is documented to have been the go between in introducing Hermann Goering's "agent", Nazi moneyman, William Rhodes Davis, to 1940 republican presidential candidate, Wendell Wilkie.

Jupiter Island Founder, Pryor's Son's Role in Nazi Financing of 1940 Wilkie Campaign

Mon Jul 14, 2008 at 02:08:44 PM PDT

Today's diary is part II in a series. "Part I", posted the other day, is here:

Bush Dynasty is the Visible Legacy of the "Merchants of Death" of Jupiter Island

The son of Remington Arms principle, Samuel F. Pryor, founder of the colony of elite living on Jupiter Island, Fl, business partner of both Bush grandfathers, founding director of Harriman/Bush's Hamburg-Amerika Shipping Line and of Thyssen's Union Bank (UBC), connected with the Du Pont sponsored fascist coup that Gen. Smedley Butler testified to the Dickstein McCormack committee about in 1934 (Pryor died in 1934), Sam F. Pryor Jr., was the 1940 Wendell Wilkie republican campaign official who facilitated the funding of that campaign by Hermann Goering's American representative, William Rhodes Davis.

One of the google.books links in this post documents British spymaster in America, Stephenson's admission that he "removed" Rhodes Davis, who died suddenly in Mexico in August, 1942.

The most startling things, besides the continuation of Nazi ties of Harriman/Bush/Pryor, to Pryor's son, in 1940, is that Wendell Wilkie apparantly knew that Nazi money was financing his campaign,

The following info is the first in a series of diaries that contain relationships that are probably mostly coincidence, but...on the slim chance that they aren't they might form an illustration about the attitude and the greed that keep and have kept us at war, or on a war footing:

The WWI war industries board is a good place to start. The chairman was Wall Street investment banker, Bernard Baruch. Assistant Chairman was Clarence Dillon, father of future US Treasury Sect'y and Jupiter Island, Fl, resident, C. Douglas Dillon. Clarence was described by Time, in 1957, as "one of the richest men in the United States". John Foster Dulles, "received an Army commission as Major on the War Industries Board"...and, "Samuel P. Bush became chief of the Ordnance, Small Arms, and Ammunition Section, with national responsibility for government assistance to and relations with munitions companies....."

FOX News Anti-Semitism

Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 07:10:00 AM PDT

Two days ago FOX News responded to some reporting on their dive in the ratings.  They did it by attacking the reporter and his producer, but they did it in a way that was, quite simply, blatantly anti-Semitic.

The reporter in question is named Jacques Steinberg.  Yup, "Steinberg."  He might as well have been named "Jacques the Jew."  And FOX, looking for a way to attack him, knew exactly what to do.  Here is a picture of Mr. Steinberg, next to the picture FOX showed on their show:

Do you see anything different?  Did you notice the grossly enlarged nose and the lowered hairline?  Does it ring any bells?  It should. ...

[UPDATE- this is getting noticed around the blogosphere.  The National Jewish Democratic Council noticed the same thing.

abortion extremists- what John McCain has in common with Nazis

Fri Jun 13, 2008 at 12:29:50 PM PDT

The way the media and some pro choice group present it - the extremists in the abortion debate are those who would ban abortion in any all circumstances - rape incest and health of mother. I disagree and will attempt to show that the true extremists are the ones who would ban abortion except in the case of rape incest or health of the mother.

My Grandfather Fought in WWII . . . on the Other Side

Wed May 28, 2008 at 03:51:41 PM PDT

Unlike Barack Obama, I have no heartwarming story to tell about a grandfather or great-uncle who liberated the concentration camps of the Third Reich. My mother's father didn't fight in World War II: he was a machinist, needed on the homefront. My father's father did fight in World War II. An infantryman, he was stationed in Bulgaria, where he fought the Soviets . . . for the German army.

Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies

Sun May 18, 2008 at 10:47:13 PM PDT

This is probably elementary to most readers here:

"As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one."

http://en.wikipedia.org/...

Let's just generalize this--

As any discussion or debate grows longer, the probability of one side comparing the other with some really infamous and evil entity/person approaches one.

And it's not surprising that our sycophant of a President would invoke Nazism while barking at the Israeli Parliament, forgetting of course that the Bush Administration should look itself in the mirror before proposing such (in this case) a self-defeating and most apropos analogy.

And the important thing to remember about Nazi analogies: they don't turn back the time nor resurrect the innocent dead.

Profiting From Appeasement

Sun May 18, 2008 at 06:22:59 AM PDT

Isn't it ironic, in light of his family's history, that Bush would mention Neville Chamberlain's impotent stance with Nazi Germany as a means of attacking Barack Obama? This is an excerpt from my book When Racism Is Law &  Prejudice is Policy (from the Overview of Eugenics, Forced Sterilization, Laws chapter)

Bush-what a week!

Sun May 18, 2008 at 05:50:42 AM PDT

If I were Republican I would be elated about the continuing on of Hillary. Not because she is doing anything wrong, but because she is a huge smoke screen for my unelected leader.
This has been a great week to really focus in on why you hate George W. Bush and why he should be impeached and jailed. It has been a week where one considers how well does one really have to speak or think to be president. Any imbecile could be president based on this week alone and there was no pretzel injury (that we know of) nor was there a multi million dollar investigation into false claims like the Democrats stole all the W keys from keyboards. Jesus, if W poked his eye out with a hotdog he would have looked smarter than his statements .
Lets remember why we hate him - because he was never elected and he is a moron hijacking our civil liberties because he can't read the constitution.  He put an all out assault on veterans this week and the House of Saude laughed him out of the palace he built. Lets review

There's Something Wrong With Your Logic...

Sat May 17, 2008 at 04:47:54 AM PDT

I don't know how much more of this crap I can take. Is the spin ever going to stop? Surrender, Nazi, appeasement, Islamic Jihadists, middle-class tax cuts, pork-vetoing, "just like Germany", "good progress", League of Democracies, foreign policy experience, "Maverick". You have got to be kidding me! Every time McCain opens his mouth, the washing machine pauses. Are the American People really this gullible? Do the majority of us just take these lunatics at their word and fully accept what Fox and CNN say? I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but this is crazy.

Bush Collaborator

Fri May 16, 2008 at 09:56:57 AM PDT

"Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: "Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided." We have an obligation to call this what it is -- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history." George Bush, 5/16/08 (Speech to the Knesset)

These words were meant to castigate the prospective Democratic nominee Barack Obama and the Iraq policies advocated by the Democratic Party. Senator McCain agreed with Bush’s assessment and went one step further evoking the name Neville Chamberlain.

What President Bush did not tell the Knesset was that his grandfather the former-Senator from Connecticut and financier Prescott Bush was a Nazi collaborator. He was a shareholder in companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.

2008--The Summer of Discontent!

Fri May 16, 2008 at 12:00:08 AM PDT

There is so much information, so much outrage, so much news, so much...my head is about to explode!!!

I was going to follow up on a poorly written diary from yesterday when I heard the president (that term loosely, by the way) say what he did in Israel...in the Knesset...slamming Democrats (particularly Sen. Obama) by comparing ANY negotiation to what Neville Chamberlin did with the Nazis...to a radio hack coming on Hardball thinking he can continue to spout the same garbage to Chris Mathews...to McCain questioning Obama's capability to protect as a future commander in chief...I'm telling you my head is spinning and I am about to blow a gasket!!

The G.O.P, neo-cons, conservatives, whatever you want to brand them they have gone to far! This "hack in chief" has gone to far! These actions from this "president" and his cabal is sowing the seeds for a summer of discontent the likes Washington D.C. has never seen before.

Nazi sympathizer speaks before Knesset! Updated

Thu May 15, 2008 at 09:43:23 PM PDT

Yes, it is true.  "By their fruits you shall know them".

There were a couple of patriarchs of the Bush family named Sam and Prescott, one of them even being the senator from Connecticut (long before Lieberman got the job). One of their progeny, their grandchild is named George W Bush.  He actually gave an utterly ridiculous and hypocritical speech attempting to compare some Americans in the present day with the "appeasers" like Chamberlain who gave  half of Czechoslovakia to Hitler.  The "comparison" was a tortured twisted reference to negotiating with terrorists, as comparable to acting as appeasers with the Nazis, (more/jump]

I got your Nazi appeasers right here, George!

Thu May 15, 2008 at 02:13:51 PM PDT

Fascism was quite respectable in the upper classes of American and British society during the 20s and 30s.  Some even called it a natural evolution of Capitalism.  Most agreed it was preferable to Communism.  In the 30s all the big players were making deals with the Nazis.  Standard Oil, IBM, Dow Chemical, Union Carbide, and Ford were just a few of the major manufacturers who counted the Nazis as friends.   This changed after Pearl Harbor.  We were at war.

The Germans were not stupid.  They learned in WWI that any assets held in America could be seized in time of war.  That's why the German cartel of I.G.Farben set up I.G.Suisse.  It allowed them to protect all their holding in Allied countries by transferring them to a corporate entity in neutral Switzerland.

Now you know one reason why Switzerland was never invaded by the Nazis.

With that as background, you can see how truly amazing it would be if anyone had the balls to continue doing business out in the open with the Nazis after Pearl Harbor.  Speaking of which, I think George has some big balls to start talking trash about Nazi appeasers.  Apparently that runs in the family ...

Did Limbaugh just concede the upcoming election??

Thu May 15, 2008 at 01:25:21 PM PDT

Bored and subconciously looking for mental abuse, I tuned into Rush Limbaugh today instead of WCPT 820 today.  Yes, I know what you're thinking, but for some damn reason I was curious to hear what the darkside was thinking about West Virginia.
